Beton House is an award-winning, architect-designed home on the Currumbin headland, the beach across the street, with views over Currumbin Alley, the coast and hinterland from every level. 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, sleeps 8 over three levels, two of them self-contained, with a rooftop terrace on top. Two lifts connect every level.
THE ROOFTOP
Outdoor lounge, dining for eight, a gas BBQ and a bioethanol fire pit, looking over Currumbin Alley and up the coast to the Surfers Paradise skyline. It opens off both top-level bedrooms, and it's where everyone ends up at sunset.
TOP LEVEL
The master suite has ocean views, a walk-in robe and its own sitting room. Beside it is a self-contained two-bedroom retreat, private and comfortable. This level sleeps four.
MID LEVEL
Open living and kitchen with bi-fold doors that open all the way around to the Alley and the hinterland. Spotted gum floors, a dining area, a TV lounge with a Sonos soundbar, Netflix and Stan, a Smeg coffee machine and a full laundry. Drinking water is filtered throughout the house. A pet door opens onto the backyard from this level.
BOTTOM LEVEL
A self-contained apartment with its own lift access, kitchenette, bathroom, TV and a balcony with outdoor seating and dining. A queen bedroom, and an adjoining room with a double bed. This level sleeps four.
Two lifts connect every level, so the layout works for grandparents and small children as well as it does for two families.
PARKING AND PETS
Driveway parking for two cars. The garage holds our own things and isn't available to guests. One well-behaved dog is welcome with the pet fee; the house rules cover the details.
GOOD TO KNOW
Currumbin sits under the Gold Coast Airport flight path, so you'll hear planes from time to time. The house is concrete construction with double-glazed windows and it doesn't bother us, but it's worth knowing before you book anywhere in Currumbin. The upside: land at Gold Coast Airport and be on the rooftop about ten minutes later.
Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 10am. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am. It's a residential street, so the rooftop comes inside after 10.
